About Us

Why would you give away free web hosting?

Rescue Host is a service of Some Tech Guy, LLC. We make our money there, which is why we don't ask for money here. Our founder has two dogs and a cat from the Nevada SPCA, one cat from Lied, and one cat he found in a parking lot. With no room to actually adopt more animals he thought that helping rescues get their message out might be a worthwhile cause. As a computer guy, this is just his way of giving back to the community.

Are you going to put ads on my site? Are there any hidden fees? Is this just a way to get people to upgrade to paid hosting?

Absolutely not. This service is 100% free - no ads, no strings, no gimmicks. If you are a commercial venture you should contact Some Tech Guy to discuss our paid services.

If it's free, the service must be inferior somehow. Is this a junk barebones hosting offer?

Your site will be hosted on the same kind of server we use for our paid services. You will receive the same control panel, same goodies, and same limitations. Check out the feature list for all the details.

Do you have a phone number I can call for help? Do you have 24x7 support?

We do not offer telephone support. Most of our customers do well with email support which we usually respond to within minutes. We're also working on a live chat option. (If you require telephone support, please contact Some Tech Guy to discuss paid services.) The web servers themselves are monitored 24x7 to ensure all services are running as they should, and if there is ever a hardware or software issue on the server it is handled immediately - hopefully before anybody ever even notices.

Will you build my website for me?

Sure, we can do that, but you would have to pay for that service. Only our hosting service is free. Give us a shout and we can discuss.

My website was working and now it's not. Will you figure it out for me?

We will respond to and fix any server side issue - that means keeping services running, keep the server software up to date, and keeping everything nice and secure. However, our support for third party applications installed on your account is limited, and you can be fairly sure we will not get mired down in fixing someone else's coding issues. In general we try to help as much as possible, but please remember that this is a free service and so the support options are somewhat limited. If we somehow did something to break your site, of course we will do whatever is in our power to get it back to normal, but if you do something to break it we may only be able to do so much.

Do you support FrontPage?

Sort of. FrontPage on Linux requires some extra extensions and they pretty much work for right now, but they won't work forever as FrontPage has been discontinued for quite some time now and the extensions are no longer being updated. Eventually they will stop working and at that time our support for FrontPage will end. It's one of those things that is sort of out of our control - blame Bill Gates. And don't say we didn't warn you.

I have more questions that you didn't answer here - how do I get in touch with you?

Feel free to contact us using this form.
